Tour of the Minneapolis Library

Location: We will depart PAL at 2:00p.m. and return approximately 5:00p.m.

We toured the Minneapolis Library. We discussed the library and opportunities it offers for teens. If you do not have a library card, one will be provided for future use.

Aromatherapy and Meditation/
Ann Bancroft Foundation

Location: PAL  

Patricia Ronning has been working with essential oils since 1987. She worked with Aveda Corporation creating therapeutic scents. In 1994, she started a Fragrance Consulting and Natural Perfumery/Aromatherapy Company and currently serves as a clinical aromatherapist and perfumer with Intelligent Nutrients. With Intelligent Nutrients, she creates therapeutic remedies and aromas for skin and hair care products. She also has a non-profit, Healing Alchemy, that was founded on the passion of alleviating unnecessary suffering and functional impairment through the provision of holistic, low cost healing therapies to anyone in need. Short meditation followed by information about aromatherapy and essential oils, you will have the opportunity to make an aromatherapy inhaler and a gift bag will be given to each young woman.  

Mallory Mitchell will talk about the The Ann Bancroft Foundation. The Ann Bancroft Foundation is working to create a world where every girl has a chance to live her dream and reach her full potential. Since 1997, ABF has awarded Dare to Dream and Let Me Play Grants to more than 3,000 Minnesota girls—connecting them to mentors, funding and encouragement to help them reach for their highest goals.  

  • Provide grants to girls ages 5 through high school graduation to realize a dream
  • Encourage and support programs with girls' organizations
  • Form strategic partnerships with corporations to support other organizations programs
  • Grants are awarded each year in May and November.

Horseback Riding

Location: We will leave PAL at 1:00pm and return by 5:00pm  

We enjoyed a fun day of fresh air and exercise riding and spending time around horses and other farm animals!

Lynx game at the Target Center

Location: We will leave PAL at 3:15pm and return following the game  

We enjoyed the Lynx game at the Target Center and took part in the Dove Speak Beautiful presentation!

Outer Beauty / Photo Shoot

Host: Joan Buccina, owner of Joan Buccina Studio

Location: We will leave PAL mid afternoon, driving to Joan’s Buccina Studio and return following the photo shoot

Joan Buccina is a Minneapolis based commercial/lifesyle and fine art photographer and mixed media artist. 

The girls had such a fun day want to thank Joan, her make-up artist, Louise Hurley and Assisant, Robert Wilde!

Tour of Golden Valley Animal Humane Society

Location: 4119 Dupont Avenue North (We will be leaving PAL at 1:30)

We took a tour of the Golden Valley Animal Humane Society! This fun day will be 1.5 hours of activities led by an Animal Humane Society educator at any Animal Humane Society location, including a shelter tour, educational activities, and animal.

Resume Writing and Interviewing

This fun event helped the girls with resume writing and the interviewing process. As well they learned about what tools are needed for your first job!

Tour KARE11 Television Studio

Host: Lindsey Seavert, news anchor

Location: Leave PAL at 3:30 pm

Lindsey gave us a tour of the newsroom, you will meet the anchors and meteorologist, see the studio and watch the broadcast. Afterwards there will be a question and answer session.
